Mont-Saint-Michel: Tour or DIY?
The train route works: TGV to Rennes, then a Keolis shuttle bus to the island. The shuttle runs regularly. DIY is cheap (โฌ60โ80 return all in) and gives you total flexibility. The tour advantage is transport convenience, a guided abbey visit, and โ on some tours โ a cider-tasting stop in the Normandy countryside on the way back.

What You'll Actually See
Mont-Saint-Michel is smaller than it looks in photos. The island is about 300 metres across at its widest. The abbey is the main event โ a Benedictine monastery founded in 966, layered through Romanesque and Gothic rebuilding over centuries.
